Professor Randy Pausch of "The Last Lecture" Has Died

Friday July 25, 2008
Professor Randy Pausch, made famous for his "Last Lecture" in which he shared his view of the world and how to live a happy successful life, has died. While Randy's cancer was inoperable, he used his unexpected celebrity to promote research and funding for cancer patients of all types.

Randy will be greatly missed by his wife, three children, family, students and by all of the people that his infectious optimism touched.

The Last Lecture is available online for free, and the book by the same title is available from booksellers everywhere. I highly recommend both for anyone facing a cancer diagnosis, or who needs an hour of positive and upbeat perspective from a man who knows he is dying.

I saw his video not long ago. When I heard today that he died and had written a book, knowing what a time commitment that means I wondered why he hadn’t opted to spend that time with his family then I thought about his video and realized two things. A book will stay with them all of their lives and it will help to support them as well…It’s sad to lose someone but he did it the best it can be done.
