Definition: The cervix is the lowest part of the uterus, and is able to open during childbirth to allow the baby to pass into the vagina. During Hysterectomy surgery the cervix may or may not be removed, depending on the patient's needs.
Pronunciation: sir-vix
Examples: Once the cervix was fully dilated the baby moved out of the uterus.
