Definition:
The prostate is a small muscular gland approximately the size of a walnut that surrounds the urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder) and the base of the bladder.
The prostate gland secretes fluid that makes of part of the seminal fluid, which is part of the fluid portion of semen. During an orgasm, the prostate’s muscular component helps propel seminal fluid through the urethra and out of the penis, known as ejaculation.
